St. John’s Wort oil contains antibacterial, antiviral, revitalizing and antifungal properties. The oil’s composition includes flavonoids, hypericin and tannins which are excellent for the skin and also have anti-inflammatory effects. It is often used for burns but can even be used as a spice for Mediterranean fish dishes. Given that the macerate is made from St. John’s Wort, which is widely spread, and olive oil is also easy to obtain, St. John’s Wort oil can be made at home.
St. John’s Wort oil can help with:
- first degree burns
- women’s issues – ovarian inflammation, vaginal infections, fungal and viral infections
- removal of hemorrhoids
- reducing varicose veins
- ulcers
- wounds, scars and stretch marks – it is especially good for treating wounds in patients who lie down for a long time, and for scars and wounds that are prolonged (it should never be applied to fresh and open wounds)
- removal of acne and pimples
- pain caused by rheumatism and gout
- soothing muscle and nerve inflammation
Method of use:
- St John’s wort oil can be used externally and internally, and is particularly suitable for women and the health of female organs.
- For vaginal infections, it is applied using a tampon.
Notes:
You may have come across information that this oil is great for sunbathing or for faster tanning. It is not recommended for use before sun exposure. Its properties will only attract the sun and therefore it can cause more burns than skin protection.
